In simple terms Double Glazed Units or IGU's are units made up of 2 pieces of glass which are sealed together with a spacer bar. This leaves a layer of air trapped in between the two pieces of glass. Air is a very poor conductor of heat so this layer is a protection between the cold air outside and the warm air inside.
